Full-Time Associate Optometrist — Advanced Optometric Care

Clear Horizon Eyecare - Plainville, CT

Application Deadline: N/A
Full-time/Associate/Partner Optometrist

Are you an optometrist who wants to practice excellent patient care without sacrificing your life outside the office?

We're looking for an adaptable, personable OD to join our established private practice in Plainville, Connecticut. We care for patients from infants to grandparents, with a broad scope of medical, primary, pediatric, and specialty optometry.

We are a 3-doctor, 15-person practice that values clinical excellence, efficiency, collaboration, and genuine relationships with our patients. We recently moved into a newly renovated 10,000-square-foot facility and have invested heavily in technology, specialty services, and our people.

Why This Practice?

Practice thoroughly. Work efficiently. Go home when you're done.

Our doctors typically see approximately 15–18 comprehensive exams and 7–9 brief visits per day. Our efficient EHR workflow, technology, and staff support allow our doctors to generally finish their charting when they finish seeing patients—we don't expect our doctors to routinely take charts home at night.

We also believe you should have a voice in how you practice.

Have a clinical specialty you'd like to develop? Want to see more specialty contact lens patients, myopia management, medical optometry, pediatrics, binocular vision, or another area of interest?

Let's build it.

If your clinical interests call for a different scheduling model, we're open to creative solutions as long as patient care and practice goals are being met.

Your Clinical Opportunity

Our practice offers:

  • Full-scope medical eye care
  • Glaucoma and ocular disease management
  • Dry eye / ocular surface disease
  • Diabetic eye care and macular degeneration
  • Acute and urgent eye care

  • Pediatric eye care and InfantSEE

  • Specialty contact lenses, including sclerals, RGPs, hybrids & pediatric aphakia

  • Strong relationships with local pediatricians and primary care physicians

You don't need to arrive knowing how to do everything. We value adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

The Team

We're big believers in collaboration without micromanagement.

We share ideas, discuss challenging cases, and learn from one another. You'll have access to experienced colleagues, tech support, scribe support as desired, and modern diagnostic technology.

At the same time, we want you to develop your own clinical style and interests.

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Comfortable caring for both children and adults
  • Thorough but efficient
  • Adaptable and flexible
  • Personable and compassionate
  • A strong communicator
  • A collaborative team member
  • Interested in lifelong learning

  • SIMPLE IRA with 3% employer match
  • Health insurance reimbursement / ICHRA
  • Supplemental insurance options
  • 3 weeks PTO
  • 6 paid holidays

Why We're Hiring

One of our owner-doctors will retire December 31, 2027. We would like our new associate to join us by Summer 2027, allowing time to build relationships with our patients and team before taking on a larger role in the practice beginning January 2028.

We're looking for someone who wants to become a long-term member of our practice, not someone looking for a temporary stop.

For the right person, there may eventually be opportunities for increased leadership and partnership.

Interested?

If you're an OD who wants advanced clinical care, supportive colleagues, professional autonomy, a sustainable schedule, and the opportunity to shape your own practice within a thriving private practice, we'd love to talk.
